ICI起球箱测试法﹕<br /> <br />Purpose:&nbsp;&nbsp;Determination of the resistance of fabrics against the formation of snags and other surface changes <br /><br />Apparatus:&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br />ICI pilling tester, one box fitted with 6 standard spikes placed in the middle of each box side.<br />4 standard rubber tubes<br />Apparatus maintenance:<br />Spikes in apparatus must be checked every 3 months – <br />Cut samples from a fabric known and rated for snagging <br />If snagging has decreased by 1 point, the spikes are considered dull and must be replaced.<br /><br />Test description:<br /><br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Snagging test should be performed on all fabrics using filament yarns.<br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Samples should be prepared similar to the instructions of BS EN 12945-1 for pilling.<br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Before cutting the test specimen, the fabric has to be washed 1 times, to wash off eventually applied finish&nbsp;&nbsp;(refer to description of&nbsp;&nbsp;“dimensional changes in home laundering of fabrics” 4.02)<br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Cut 4 pieces of 12,5 x 12,5 cm (2 in vertical and 2 in horizontal direction), the specimen should be folded right sides together, stitch the edges&nbsp;&nbsp;together&nbsp;&nbsp;(seam allowance 12mm) forming a tube.<br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 6mm should be trimmed off of each end of the specimen <br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Turn the tube inside out so that the face side is on the outside of the tube.<br />- Mount the specimen onto the rubber tube by using a mounting jig, the specimen should be in the&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; <br />&nbsp;&nbsp;center of the tube.<br />- the seam should be as flat as possible<br />- adhesive tape (approx. 19mm wide) should be used to tape each end of the specimen to the&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;tube.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />- 6 mm of the tube should be exposed at each end of the tube<br />- Condition the specimen to 20°C ± 2°C and 65% ± 2% RH for 4 hours.<br /> <br />•&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Place the tubes into the snagging box and start the apparatus and stop after 3600 rotations.<br /><br />Assessment: <br />&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; <br />The tested specimen will be assessed in a viewing light-box cabinet (light source D 65)<br />The specimen will be compared visually with the photo standards for snagging supplied by ICI<br /><br /><br /><br />Minimum requirement: <br /><br />Knits:&nbsp; &nbsp; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp;4 <br /><br />Woven:&nbsp;&nbsp;&gt; 4
